Reservations and Educations by Ayannah - March 2018 Scholarship Essay
The way I would tell a second grader that continuing their education is important, is by telling them how the world is constantly changing. That there is always room for improvement, no matter if a person believes there is no room.
Coming from a small town and a reservation, there are not too many job opportunities available for people. And many people stay around my hometown and live off of the welfare system and government. One of the ways people escape from the reservation is that they get accepted to a school away from here. Or they go to school at our community college and then they transfer out to a four year. That some people and families are so proud of a person that gets away from their hometown, and goes on to continue their education. It is a gift to be able to continue to go to school, that not everyone has the chance to do.
In today’s world in order to succeed you will need to have some type of education, no matter where you are. We live in a world of competition, and everyone's competing for the same job/career. The more schooling and experience you have, you have a better chance of landing that job than someone who doesn’t have any schooling. Many people are not aware of this until later in their life, but I believe that we need to be teaching the generations to come how important education actually is.
Schooling does not only teach you different subjects, but when you find something you are truly passionate about you can further your passion with schooling. And for the ones who are not sure in what they have a passion for, they can try different classes and areas of schooling that can help them determine what they want to have as a career in their lifetime.
