My Next Big Educational Goal by Ayana - August 2024 Scholarship Essay

My next big educational goal is to do what I am truly passionate about. For a long time, I always did what others wanted for me instead of what I wanted for myself. Thankfully, I had people around me that kept me alongside the path that they knew I wanted to go on. However, I, myself, always doubted what and where I wanted to be. That was until I fully surrendered to my next big educational goal which is becoming an actress and film director.

Growing up, I always had the desire to become an actress. Though for a long time I saw it as just a dream rather than a career. Especially considering that I never had the opportunity of pursuing being an actress due to lack of access and other financial complications. Similar to becoming a director, I never had access to educational resources to learn about directing.

Moreover, now that I was accepted into Howard University and majoring in film, I am now in reach of those educational resources for both acting and film. Also, I am now in reach of pursuing my passions and not other people's opinions. My next big educational goal is to continue to strive for me. Not for anybody else, but for me.
