Military History by Austin - September 2017 Scholarship Essay

My junior year I took an elective on military History. It was taught by a former soldier in the United States Army. This teacher is one of the most influential people in my life, as he has been both my teacher and my football coach. He has helped mold me into the man I am today. He motivates me, inspires me, and pushes me every day. He realizes my potential and helps me reach it. His leadership, encouragement, and work ethic leads me to desire to be like him.
This class was by far the best class I have ever taken. Besides being an enjoyable and interesting class, it helped me realize what my future goal is. I realized I wanted to enter into the military, specifically a service academy. I have contemplated this for a long time, but did not realize my true passion for it until this class. I have a passion to serve others and what better opportunity to do this than the military. This would give me the chance to serve others as I lead them. I would be leading a group of men and women on the greatest team on the planet. I would have the opportunity to make an impact on each one of their lives. However, I might never have discovered it if it hadn’t have been for third hour military History.
