The Great BB! by Aujhante - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

In high school I didn’t just build relationships with my classmates but with my teachers and principal as well. High school teaches you the necessities for furthering your education or whatever a person decides to do. You gain friends that you felt like you’ve known your whole life and you meet teachers who become heroes in your life. For me, my high school hero is Mrs. Bell- Bowers. Mrs. Bowers was not only my English and yearbook teacher, she was and still is an inspiration and great power figure to me. She gave me the best advice that I always find myself telling someone else; Don’t knock someone’s idea if you don’t have a suggestion or solution.
This was important to me because being Class President, that was a quality that I needed to have. After I started implementing that into my role as being a leader, I began asserting that to my everyday life. I even started paying attention to how Mrs. Bell- Bowers applied that to her role as being a teacher in the Detroit Public School system considering the battles they face and still doing and loving their job. I applaud Mrs. Bell- Bowers and thank her for giving me inspiration to better the young woman that I was so that I am the woman I am today.
