untold story still to come by Asyah - February 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I could have dinner with anyone of my choice I would have dinner with Marguerite Ann Johnson better known as Maya Angelou. She's an author, a civil activist, and a poet. I'd love to have dinner with her because shes a multi-talented woman. Shes strong, she can turn nothing into everything. And her poems will make you feel like your living though her eyes. If I could I would love to have dinner with Ms. Angelou. It would me the world to me
Maya Angelou was an author, dancer, actress, scene writer, and ,my favorite, a poet. Throughout her career Maya wrote several autobiographies such as "All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes. Or the more popular "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings", which is still played until this day. Her poetry list is phenomenal like her most popular poem "On The Pulse Of Morning". " The rock cries out to us today you my stand upon me, but do not hide your face. She wrote this for Bill Clinton. But it was taken in by the hearts of millions.
Maya has been through some rocky times. When she was young her parents divorced and her and her brother had live with her grandmother. Maya , being a young African American, had to face racial prejudice and discrimination. But that nothing compared to what she has to face next. Maya went to see her mom where your moms boyfriend raped her at the age of seven. Her uncle ends up killing the boyfriend as a result Maya becomes a mute for many years. At the age 16 she found out she was pregnant from her short high school relationship. She names her child Maya. From there she starts he career as a performer in the production "Porky and Bess". Great things happened to her. She stared on Broadway, she started publishing, then became a poet
Mayas poetry could be song that describes my heart and soul. " We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty". Its deep and true work. It means even the most elegant, wealthy and self-sufficient people had to work to get where they are at and keep what they have. As great of a person that Maya was she died may, 28, 2014 of a heart problems. She will be missed for her real push to equality, justice, education and work, time, and true words of the heart.
Maya and me having dinner would change my world. Just to be in her presents would change my prospective. I'd have to ask her how does she does it, change all the torment, displeasure and anger into a piece of art. I'd ask her if she thinks that I could be like her some day. I fell like i almost know the words she'd say "no cause you have to be like you. There is no greater agony than bearing a untold story inside you.
