Future of school by Asia - May 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I had unlimited time and money, I would use everything I’ve learned in school, not just facts and formulas, but also values like teamwork, empathy, and critical thinking to build a world that is more equal, sustainable, and compassionate. School hasn’t just taught me how to solve equations or write essays. It’s shown me how to think, how to question the world around me, and how to work with others toward something bigger than myself. With the resources and time to act freely, I’d focus on three main areas, education, mental health, and sustainability. All are deeply connected, and all are critical to creating a better future.

Education has been one of the biggest privileges in my life. It has opened doors, helped me grow, and given me a voice. But millions of children around the world don’t have access to basic schooling, let alone a quality education. If I had unlimited resources, I would work to build schools in underserved areas—not just buildings, but full learning environments with trained teachers, books, internet access, and safe spaces to grow. What I’ve learned in school is that education is not just about memorizing facts. It’s about learning how to think critically, communicate ideas, and believe in your ability to shape your life. I’d help develop programs that teach life skills, financial literacy, and digital literacy, especially in developing communities. These aren’t always in the curriculum, but they’re just as important for long-term success.

I’d also make sure education was inclusive, culturally respectful, and available in students’ native languages. Everyone deserves to learn in a way that makes sense for their background and experience. Whether through community centers, mobile learning buses, or virtual classrooms, my goal would be to make learning feel exciting, empowering, and accessible, because the ripple effect of education is endless. The truth is, having unlimited time and money might be a fantasy but having knowledge, heart, and determination is very real. I know I’m lucky to have had the education I’ve had. And if I ever do have the opportunity to create large-scale change, I’ll do it with deep gratitude and purpose.

Until then, I can still use what I’ve learned to make a difference in smaller ways—volunteering, mentoring, raising awareness, and simply treating people with empathy and respect. Positive impact doesn’t always require a billion-dollar budget. It starts with what you’ve learned, and how you choose to share it.
