The Ultimate Sacrifice or the Ultimate Strategy: Choose Wisely by Ashleigh - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
There are many strategies to ace school projects, some are only specific to the purpose of the project and some can be used for any project. The ultimate strategy for successfully completing a school project can sometimes depend on the nature of the project. For example, an argumentative essay wouldn’t always have the same strategy as an informative essay would, as they’re seeking two different intentions.
In projects that involve posing an argument, students would naturally choose to argue for the side that they most identify with. Although they would be most comfortable stating their own opinion, it would be wise to take sides with the claim that has the most support and is the most logically appealing. This is a mature decision that will make the project easier to complete due to more back up evidence to choose from and the teacher grading it will think so too.
In projects, there is no room for error, but especially in those of the informative nature. The reader is expecting to be taught as if the author is a liaison between them and the source of the information, therefore they’re expecting the information to be nothing but correct right off the bat. This means that the information must be relayed from a credible source. The proper research should be carried out and citations are a must to provide the origins of the information.
Even though these two examples have two different strategies, they share one very important one. This shared strategy is the simplest as well the most imperative: clearing up any confusion. Simply asking the teacher any and all questions you may have could save you in the end. If you provide a great argument and use credible sources, it won’t matter in the end if you’ve been using the wrong format all along. Some teachers even provide a rubric that can be used as a reference throughout the process. Some students feel intimidated or afraid to ask questions, but just taking a moment to clarify something would easily eliminate any misunderstandings and misuses of time.
