Education is Life by Ariyn - October 2022 Scholarship Essay

Education is more than attending school to learn about English, Math, History, or even Science. Not even about the extracurricular activities, clubs or sports. But it’s about how far you will allow yourself to grow and prepare yourself for reality and life. But education to me means success and goals becoming reality.

First reason why education is so important to me is because I would love to further my education and be able to not only receive my associates and Bachelor's degrees. But be able to get my Master’s and soon enough be able to earn my Doctor in Psychology also known as PsyD degree. Both of my parents stopped at just their Bachelor’s and a lot of my family didn’t go to college let alone finish high school, and I grew up always loving to learn and read and to go to school and being the bookworm of the family. Once I learned there was more to education than just high school and associates, I wanted to break generational curses and start new beginnings.

Secondly, as the world grows in many different ways politically, environmentally, and financially. It’s not easy to start your career or any well paying job because they raise the expectations more and more by the second. Now, when looking to start from the bottom, they require a high school diploma even at some jobs teenagers would get just to start off getting a little money in their pockets. I wouldn’t want to worry about being denied an opportunity because I only finished high school or only got my associates. I feel the more education, the more investing in the money you will make.

But to close it off, opportunities to be able to help me pay for school is so important to me because I spent my 8th grade year to all the way through high school struggling financially because of my parents’ divorce and my mother’s medical expenses all at while trying to make sure the bills were paid, we had food on the table and clothes on our backs. I started working and getting jobs to be able to save money so I can make sure I was financially good when it came to making sure I had things I needed and things I wanted. But college funds aren't easy to save for especially when the parent you live with will help you with college.

Receiving this scholarship will mean so much to me. I know there are hundreds of people that apply for this scholarship but I hope my application stands out the most.
