Energy at Night by Arianna - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
Would you say that you prefer nights over mornings Well, I personally prefer nights over mornings. I tend to be more aware of everything going on, get way more things done, and I usually wake up late in the morning which for me means that I won't sleep till past midnight. Nights to me has always meant that that's the time things begin to stir up. Nights have always been the time for me to be less restricted than I am in the mornings, and that's why I'm a night owl.
To begin, nights are more of a time that I tend to be more aware of everything. Even though it's darker and quieter, that's what makes you more alert and aware of what could be possibly happening. For example, if you're the only one awake and you randomly hear a noise, you're obviously going to question "What was that?" and continue to keep an ear out. That's how I am at night because in the mornings I believe nothing out of the ordinary will happen.
To add on, more things for me get done i the night than in the morning. For example, on the weekends I usually have a few homework assignments to do that I don't want to do on a Saturday afternoon or on a Sunday. Because of that, I tend to do it on Friday or Saturday night because I feel like I have more than enough time to get everything done. If you're like me, then you have no time in the morning to do anything. I'm usually crammed with multiple things to do which makes it hard to work on my main priorities at the time. Many things such as homework get done at night for me and I feel less stressed.
For the most part, I usually wake up around 11 am or even 12 pm when I don't have school. That often happens a lot and that's what leads me to be up late at night. On school days I wake up everyday between 5:30-6:00 in the morning to be at school from 7:30-2:45. Waking up that early will make me more drowsy by at least 9 pm. On top of that, I play basketball Monday-Friday from 3 pm-5 pm which makes me more tired. I prefer not to wake up earlier than 10 am and go to sleep later than 11 pm.
Given these reasons, nights have always been my preference. Many people throw parties, have sleepovers, and go to clubs because of that reason. Plus a lot more excitement happens. It's usually known as "party time" which obviously means a good time. Nights have always been something I preferred and I don't think will change until I start to get older.
