This year my New Year’s Resolution is to not let fear determine my future. Over the course of my lifetime, I have encountered many different obstacles that have shaped who I am. I have had to encounter abuse and two parents addicted to drugs and alcohol all while balancing having a social and educational life and taking care of my younger brother. While those experiences have made me stronger and helped me grow, the lingering fear has affected my decision making skills moving forward in life. Therefore, this year I am determined to not be motivated by fear and instead focus more on positive future-driven motivation.

This goal affects all aspects of my life. However, in terms of my education, being driven by the future’s possibilities instead of fear allows me to take on many different and exciting opportunities. I have decided to find the strength in myself to try new things and put myself in the position to succeed and grow. In college, this goal will help me meet new people and further my growth into my intended career as a teacher. I believe that this change will lead to a better and happier life as well as a more productive and successful education.
