The Easy Way to an A by Ariana - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
I have a process for each school project I receive. It's a very simple process and consists of only four steps. I've used this process for as long as I can remember and it has always guaranteed me an A. From literary research projects to science fair projects, it works for any project thrown your way.
It begins with analyzing the assignment, and the rubric if one is given. I read the prompt thoroughly and pick out exactly what it is asking me to do and when the project needs to be turned in. Once I have a clear picture of what needs to be completed and when, I read through the rubric to ensure I know what is being asked of each part of the project.
The next step is planning. I begin by laying out a list of tasks that need to be completed. Once I know the number of tasks, I separate the time left until the project deadline into an evenly spaced number of blocks that correlates to the number of tasks plus one. This gives me enough time to complete each task and gives me a last block of time for the editing and revising, or in case I fall behind on the schedule and find myself needing extra time. To finish off the planning step, I adjust the time blocks according to each task, seeing as some tasks may require more time than others.
After planning, I will begin the actual work on the project. I complete each task in the allotted time, sometimes earlier. It's fairly easy to follow the schedule of work and, as long as you do not try to complete too much work in too little time, the schedule will prove fairly simple in most cases and you will find yourself working ahead. On the chance that I fall behind I leave myself the last block of time to ensure I won't be turning in the project late.
The last step consists of rechecking, revising, and editing. Once the project is complete, I go back through the list of tasks and make sure that each has been completed and meets the requirements of the rubric. Then, I reread it to make sure that I've said everything I want to say. Lastly, I check for any spelling and grammatical errors and correct those.
Once all steps of my process have been completed, I turn in the project with complete confidence that I will receive an A.
