The Perfect Learning Environment by Areum - July 2020 Scholarship Essay
My dream classroom would be a place for efficient and effective learning. The requirements would all be factors that help students learn in an environment that meets everyone's needs. By taking an approach that gives a sense of security, in an organized manner and has the materials students need to learn concepts and theories more in-depth, the learning process can begin to take place.
Safety is the top priority in the classroom. In my dream classroom, the students have a sense of security. This gives students peace in mind and allows them to focus on their studies. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs states that certain basic needs must be met before an individual can truly thrive. These basic needs include food, security, and health. My dream classroom would have all the proper procedures and regulations to ensure the safety of students.
Organization is also a very important part of my dream classroom. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it also embeds the concept that maintaining your workspace is vital to studying efficiently. Having a well-organized classroom has a certain beauty, this lead will be followed by students to do such with their materials. Being able to properly maintain your personal space is a life skill that can be used inside and outside of the classroom.
In addition, to the organization, my dream classroom has all the necessary material students need to learn new standards and abstruse concepts. Having all the right materials such as books, computers, labs, and other resources, can give students a more hands-on approach to give students a more memorable experience to the objectives they have learned.
I have many personal experiences in the classroom where I interact with lab materials whether in my environmental science class or in my chemistry class, that allowed me to see and experience real-life situations first hand. These are all the things my dream classroom has to offer for students to function at their peak performance.
