High School Sucks by Arely - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Four years ago I walked into high school as a freshmen and a completely different person than who I am today. I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into. Four years later, I can admit I made a lot of mistakes, but I am glad I made those mistakes. However, if i could have avoided those mistakes, it would have made my senior year so must less stressful.
Your education should always come first. There will always be distractions that at the time may seem more important than your education, but in the long run your education is what matters the most. The best thing you can do for yourself is put your education first. It will pay off in the end. I know this from experience, I let distractions get the best of me, and I ignored the importance of my education which is the biggest mistake I made. Focusing on your grades will make your senior year a lot easier.Challenging yourself is another must. Take AP classes and summer classes. Getting things done sooner will pay off your senior year. The harder you work your freshmen through junior year, the easier your senior year will be. Lastly, procrastination is your worst enemy. Try to not make procrastination a habit, instead make getting your work done as soon as possible a habit. This will avoid so much stress and allow you to have more free time and study time.
High school was a tough experience for me because I was naive. I learned by making mistakes. I am glad I made those mistakes because I can now apply what I learned to my college experience. However, high school does not have to be tough. Stay focused and always put your education first. It will be more than worth it in the end.
