Most important lesson learned from a teacher by Antonio - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

The most important lesson I learned from a teacher was how to be yourself when writing an essay, my English teacher always told me that its harder to write about something when you try to portray yourself as someone that you're not. Hearing those words helped me with High School essays and made writing them more entertaining and fun. My skills and creativity as a writer grew , I was able to come up with details and make the stories more interesting by using what my English teacher told me. In my senior of year of High School I was just beginning adjust to my new teacher and the students, and it being an honors class made the essays a greater challenge, but I wanted to make a good impression to my new English teacher because he took a big notice in how well we wrote our essays, and I had to figure out hot make 12 pages of an amazing story about a person in poor country's struggles.

I researched for hours looking for as much info and background to be able to come up with 12 pages and to finish it within 2 weeks. The first 5 pages were a breeze, but as I progressed towards the 7th page the thoughts in my head were running out and I started panicking on what to write, I had to finish the essay, but how? I ran out of ideas and felt discourage, I couldn't believe I was having writers block. I attempted to write something but the feeling wasn't the same as the first 5 pages, something was missing I kept putting words that sounded smart, and trying to extend information that was unnecessary, and after I was done with the essay I felt disappointed I turned the essay in to my teacher and received a note on the top of my essay in red pen saying " the beginning of your essay was powerful but as you got deeper into the essay you didn't sound like the same person" , The words that my sophomore English teacher gave me I didn't follow and resulted in me struggling and panicking.
