The Greatest Benefits of a College Degree by Anthony - October 2024 Scholarship Essay

There are many benefits of a college degree but in my opinion the greatest benefit is the ability to unlock more opportunities for my future. There is a saying that “you don’t know what you don’t know”. I feel like this is very applicable at this time of my life. I am faced with many decisions to make over the next year and all of them will have a large impact on the path of my life.

I am planning to attend college in Mankato, Minnesota, beginning in the fall semester of 2025. I have enjoyed learning and developing friendships in high school. I hope to further my education and continue to make friendships that will last a life time. I believe a desire to continue learning will help develop a full and interesting future.

I am not yet certain what type of career I want to pursue but most employers are seeking job candidates that possess a college degree. So by obtaining a degree, I will have the opportunity to choose from many different careers. I have grown up in a very small town in rural Minnesota but the college I plan to attend is in a much larger city. I do not know exactly where I want to live when I am an adult, so I’m hoping that attending college will help point me in a direction to make these choices.

Deciding to obtain a college degree is just the first of many steps toward creating a fulfilling life for my future. Thank you for your time in considering this scholarship application.
