Success lead by Failure by Anthony - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

Failure, the result of an unsuccessful goal. One is looked down upon when they fail, and ultimately belittled. No person wants to purposely fail because of the shame and embarrassing feelings of defeat that arise from it. Humans strive for success, it is in their nature to accomplish and to become superior. Goals are those set by oneself to create success and self accomplishment.
But how does one achieve success? A question that rushes through my mind when working a school project. Henry Ford an influential man due to the fame of his success by the invention of a motor car and his creation of the brand Ford motors, once said “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin more intelligently.” A man, known for his fortune and success has said the failure is just an awakening call to try again in a smarter way. A way that eventually achieves success. No individual achieves great success without failure and acceptation, people must grow from their losses. Humans have their ups and downs when trying to accomplish a goal they have set in front of them.
When a project is assigned, I aim to complete a draft of the finished project halfway before the due date. My technique includes time management, yet organization is not the only key to success in my eyes. Once the project is finished, I revisit the work, I have done and glance at the paper with a fresh pair of new eyes. This unbiased and fresh look gives me the opportunity to see what mistakes I have made and actually what my project needs to be perfect. In the learning process of it all, I have learned through my failures and past mistakes and now I am capable of creating my own process and sticking behind my work confidently.
While working on a school project I ultimately aim to get the opportunity to improve my project. Getting the project done with plenty of time to edit, gives me a learning student to make it into something perfect. Being a perfectionist and a polar opposite to a procrastinator gives me access to the time I need to perfect my work. Everyday that I look at my work I use fresh eyes to change what I may have thought was great. Registering my wrongs and editing my work is essentially the key to success. Time is success as they say.
