Believing by Annamarie - November 2018 Scholarship Essay

My senior quote would be “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” for many reasons. In high school, I have learned you go through many ups and downs especially when receiving grades and acceptance letters from colleges. It's all about what you do next, and how you use it to your advantage. Nothing motivates me more than wanting to do better on the next test or quiz and when I do, it makes me feel as if I'm on top of the world. Making mistakes or not receiving the outcome expected is frustrating, but if you sit there and let it get to you, nothing is going to improve. I always keep pushing to succeed and never doubt myself.
I believe test scores do not define a student in any way. When applying for colleges and scholarships, all colleges and organizations have minimum test score requirements in order to apply or to get into the school. I believe a student's GPA is the most accurate way to define who a student is. A student’s GPA shows how consistent the student is and a good view on how they would perform in college to come. Test scores are only 10% of who a student is. The other 90% would be the students GPA, extracurricular activities, and their whole persona. One mindset I have achieved from high school, going into college, is to never stop believing. A number simply does not define me.
