Describe an academic goal you have for the upcoming year. by Anna - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

My career objectives are ones that will enhance my goals that will further qualify me for the career I am partaking in. My main objectives include being proficient in-patient assessment, diagnosis, and patient care. Learning how to medically assist the patient on a situational basis is essential because every patient is different and requires a different set of care. Much of my career deals with problem-solving skills and high stress, fast-paced situations, so having the ability to grow and develop those traits in a clinical setting is another key objective. Enhancing the quality of care and quality of life for the patient is another objective of mine because the need for support is of utmost importance. Taking vital signs and analyzing them, administering medication, and having a close partnership with the physicians and doctors are what will help me become a supportive and collaborative nurse. Having extensive knowledge and application on daily patient care, having communication skills between patients, families, doctors, and other nurses, and being proactive in the health care management organization are also career objectives that will be assessed throughout my course of study with nursing.

I strive to be a driven and self-motivated person taking on this leadership role in a hospital setting, therefore, seeking to bring motivational behavior will bring dedication to tasks at hand and boosting morale in all areas of the nursing staff. These skills and behaviors will greatly make a difference toward other nurses, so creating a positive environment in an atmosphere that can very easily become strenuous and disheartening is a long-term objective that I am partaking in. Because not only are the patients’ care important, but we also have to look out for each other as nurses, so making sure staff are expressing compassion and understanding toward others and their patients will bring a much more committed and passionate staff to the table.

Teamwork and collaboration skills are a highlight of the nursing career that I want to work on and having those extensive skills in medical terminology and technology and applying that knowledge to real life situations is a huge teaching skill that will enrich my experience as a registered nurse. My interest field includes working in the emergency room, so having the dedication to work in an accelerated environment and bringing the utmost beneficial care to those that are in critical need is another career objective that I have.
