Academic Obstacles by Anjahney - June 2016 Scholarship Essay
Throughout my high school career I've faced many obstacles. One major obstacle I've faced was having to bring my gpa up because of the fact I didn't take my freshman year seriously. I used to always say “oh it's okay it won't affect me” or “it’s okay the teacher won't notice I didn't do my homework last night”. But by me just saying that only made things a lot worst. It made things worse because my gpa dropped and I almost failed the class for the year.
Once my math teacher told me I could possibly fail that class for the year only made me want to change. I've stopped hanging out with the group of friends that caused me to not do my homework which caused me to stop caring about that class. At that moment in time I've even started doing my homework every night and actually taking the class serious. Not only did I take the class serious because my teacher told me I could possibly fail for the year but that class was a class I needed to graduate.
Now that I've realized that how important school is and how important my gpa is, I tend to take it much more serious now than I did in my freshman year of high school. I now turn in all my work on time and take my teachers serious when they tell me how important things are. I was able to bring my gpa up and I plan to continue to bring my gpa up even higher to help me succeed later on throughout my college career.
