Dinner with the President by Anh - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I could have dinner with a president, living or not, I would have it with Barack Obama. He is one of the most influential people to US history, first of all, being the first black president. Though he was not the most perfect person, he has had a considerable amount of accomplishments for this country during his two term presidency. These accomplishments impacted the country in beneficiary ways, and all of his intentions were to better the lives of Americans, and this makes me believe that he is for the people and not selfish, which I admire about him.
For one, he signed the Affordable Care Act which was which was designed for all Americans to have access to healthcare. I personally believe that health care is a right, not a luxury so passing the ACA shows that Obama cares about the well being of all people. He ended the Iraq war in 2011, so the US was not involved in as much international conflict and brought troops home to their families. He eliminated Osama Bin Laden, who posed a big threat to the safety of Americans since he was the leader of Al Queda. He also reformed the economy since the Great Recession in 2008 and produced more jobs.
Overall, I admire the work he has done and I truly believe that he has improved the lives of many Americans even if some do not agree with things he did. I would love to have dinner with Barack Obama because I believe he is a a good person and one of the most successful presidents in history.
