A conversation with a President by Angelica - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

Abraham Lincoln would be the president I would love to sit down and talk to. He is someone who came from poor upbringings and has brought himself to a position that is highly acclaimed and recognized. He has brought many changes to the United States and has been able to create those changes at a critical time in order to attain peace. He was constantly learning and striving to become someone to help the people of his country. The obstacles he had to face is too many and he pushed through them in order to accomplish his goal. He is just a man who has done so much, I want to meet him not only for his successes but also to witness his character. It’s been told that Lincoln was both witty and clever, he was a quiet man but once he spoke he would say outrageous things that in a way would make sense. His personality would be the joy to the conversation, many presidents come off as having a strict and stern persona so having Lincoln be my companion would have a friendlier atmosphere.
His thought process is one I would love to investigate and be able to learn from, his way of thinking was different from those at that time and I want to wonder why. My curiosity is the main reason why I would love to talk to Lincoln but also I would like to know what kind of advice he would give to me or to the world because I know he would have plenty to say in this day and age. I believe that with a few words he is able to calm down anyone, and with the way the world is now, we need a few words of encouragement.
