In Ten Years by Angela - December 2015 Scholarship Essay

In ten years, I know my life is successful when I learned some very important lessons. One of them is living every moment; it is to “live life.” As humans, we are so focused on our past and worrying about the future, we only focus on memories and possibilities. The present is when we truly find peace with ourselves and live our own bodies that they were meant to be. For each and every one of us, “living life” for one person may not be the same for another. For me, breathing and living life is enjoying hobbies and sports that I will pursue one day.

Another important lesson that I will look back upon is being prepared no matter what. Being prepared for anything will always take more effort, but in the end – it is always worth it. It is better to be prepared or over prepared than not at all. When an opportunity presents itself, I know can seize it without hesitation and know that I lived a moment with no regrets. This will become essential when I’m completing my BA degree in Accounting and creating business relationships with others to further my career.

One other lesson that I will build upon over time is to let my family and friends know that I love them. Before I know it, one of them may be gone forever and I will never get a chance to tell them. It is important to tell them, so I do not live with any regrets about it and continue to live my life in peace knowing that I love and care for others as they would do the same for me.

In ten years, I know my life is successful when I helped out many people throughout the years. I go out of my way to help my family and friends, strangers who are in need of various things, and the community as a whole. I love helping people. In life, it is important to take a step back and reflect who really needs help and put their needs above my own.

I will be proud of myself for creating and building relationships with new friends that I will meet one day. Trying new things that my friends will encourage me to do; it will be challenging because it will push my limits and boundaries. The best part of it all is being myself – knowing that my friends will accept me for who I am as person and that I do not have to pretend to be something that I am not. My future friends will support me in my choices in any circumstance or situation.

I would look back and notice all the time I spent outside appreciating nature. It has this natural beauty to it. It is also calm and relaxing: I would notice all these little things around me, such as the breeze, the grass, the dirt, etc.

Furthermore, personality matters the most, no matter who you are or where you come from – as it can make the smallest or biggest impression. It can make or break a deal in terms of business. Sometimes, solving problems can be solved on how you want to solve it rather than someone else’s course of action. Your personality can take you anywhere, you just have to believe in yourself and knowing who you truly are.
