If the roles were reversed, I would have desired to teach math, any level of math (calculus, pre-calculus, algebra 1, etc.). I believe learning and gaining knowledge in any of the mathematical levels are critically important just like an English class. Just as much as English is very important, math is too. Everyone is going to grow up and get paid from a job/career, they are going to need to understand how to deal with their finances and not let people use them because they are not mathematically inclined.
I see so many people getting used, starting off at the simple things like not getting the correct change at a store or etc. and then it gets worse, for example your job paying less than what you deserve. Money related fields are not the only things in the mathematical category, math it’s used everywhere; distances, in different fields (engineering, accounting (finance), science, and etc.), it is an extreme benefit to be in a field that deals with math, you will get paid a lot more money.
I had the best math teachers and I would only want to return the favor and help students understand how useful math is. If I were a teacher, I not only would want students to do well in English but also in math, they are both very beneficial and are used in everyday life.
