Motivation by Angel - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

In high school, I excelled in math and science; was average in social studies, but, I wasn’t the best in English class. I always struggled when it came to writing essays and I wasn’t the best at reading. I had a hard time focusing on what I was reading and would always daydream while I was reading the words, and did not retain anything that I had just read. Even though I was not the best in English, if the tables have turned, and I was the teacher, I would teach English.
My main goal in live is, of course be successful, but it is to always help people and never give up on them. There is a plethora of students that fail classes, and they never recover from it and they end up dropping out of school. With English being my worst subject, I passed. I only got better and that was due to the help of my teachers. So if I was to be the teacher, I would always help the students when struggling and always be their motivation. The main reason people fail is because they give up; they ran out of motivation, and no longer have the drive to succeed. No man gets left behind, and I will push people to their limits, but never give up on them. Through my 4 years in high school, I do not think I would have passed my classes without them. They always pushed me when I was lazy and they helped me when I struggled. This motivated me to want nothing more than to help others.
From my experiences in high school, the best teachers were the ones that never gave up on students, not the teachers that knew the most. Motivation is the only way to get things done, and when you have run out it, nothing will be achieved in life. So if I were the teacher I would teach English, because that was the class I had the least motivation for. Thanks to my teachers, I now have the ability to motivate myself and others. I plan on changing the world, and it takes one step at a time; this is definitely a step in the right direction.
