Key to Success in 2016 by Andrew - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

Upon thinking about a new way to set myself up for the second half of the school year, I thought “What do I get tangled up in the most when trying to do school work, and what would be one possible way to eliminate the problem?” As I thought and thought the answer became clear as I peered down at my phone to see I had a notification on Twitter. There is one common hindrance to almost all studying for teenagers; Social media. Within the past couple of years the use of social media has seemed to skyrocket in numbers. Many predict this trend to continue as it has for the past 5 or 6 years. So now I had the first question answered but I still had to come up with the answer for the second question.
As the first answer seemed to appear to me almost as a sign, so did the second answer. I was on my Twitter on looking at some of DJ Khaled’s tweets when I received a pop up to change my password. That is when it hit me! I could have my sister change all of my social media passwords if I needed to study or work on any school assignment. She would then write the new password on a piece of paper shaped like a key. She would keep it until I completed the task. The key is now motivation to me because the only way for me to earn back social media was to work harder in school. This minor change to my study environment has greatly impacted my grades. My most recent test grades have been averaging a grade mark higher then my test scores in the past. This seems to be one new years resolution that will be continually used and not forgotten.
