Why Time Management is the Most Important Skill to be Successful by Andrew - February 2023 Scholarship Essay

I think the most important skill in education is time management. You have to be really good at balancing all the things you do in school. For me, I take 2 choirs, do cross country and track, and I'm in a tv club. So I have to be able to balance all the extra curriculars and schoolwork. However, I have found it very easy to balance all of it. I put school first, as always, but then depending on what time of year it is, I make one of the extra curriculars my main focus. For right now track is starting soon but I also have show choir happening right now. So, I have put show choir before track.

Not only do I need to time manage the extra curriculars with schoolwork, I have to manage my schoolwork as its own thing as well. I get a decent amount of schoolwork. I use srt and study hall to get things done on time. I think the hardest year was the in thw middle of covid when we returned to school. My sophomore year. I was taking an AP World class on top of everything. So, I really had to sharpen my time management skills because I had to be able to get 30-40 pages in the textbook read and notes on the pages too. Some nights I'd be up very late getting them done. I would still get them done and I always stayed up late anyway. I just had to try hard to manage it all. I was able to get the notes done before the due date. AP World was the hardest AP class so ending with a C was pretty good.

If a person doesn't know how to time manage well, then they miss opportunities like extra curriculars. If they do extra curriculars and aren't good at time managing, then they start failing their classes because they aren't getting the schoolwork or homework done. They aren't using their time well. So, if you want to be successful, you have to be able to time manage. You need to be able to balance everything that you are doing or get as close as you can to balance because if you aren't able to, school becomes very difficult. Every year was different because I had to deal with Covid. I had four different schedules through all of high school. Always a different schedule every year. However, I was always able to make adjustments and still be able to time manage. Time management is the number 1 most important skill to have to be able to be successful in school.
