Priceless Education by Andre - November 2015 Scholarship Essay
The aspects of my education that I am most thankful for is the education that I received outside of the textbooks. Anybody can read a book and to learn things, but teachers are ultimately the future of a student’s valuable education. The teachers are so supposed to teach what is in the textbooks, but the ones that truly care about their students are the ones that teach about the important things that students need to know and have in order to survive in this world. Things such as how to get and maintain a house, a car, a job, and how to act the right way in front of people you need to respect.
An example of a teacher that has done this for me is not a teacher at all, it's my parents. They taught me so much more than a textbook can teach me. They taught me how to get and maintain a job, a bank account, take care of a car, how to make breakfast and so much more. From what I learned and gained from their experience and teaching shows me the things that I need to make an impact on this world.
Education is not limited to what is found in the school systems but what is found in the people that surround your life as well. The people that teach other people in life are the people that I am thankful for. “Give a man to fish and he is fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he is fed for life”. Education is the building blocks in order to provide you or your family with a life worth having. That is why the education that I received from my family is most important to me.
