There is Money in My Future by Ana - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

From a young age, I was greatly interested in numbers and did well in all of my mathematics classes. I assumed the position of treasurer in most of my extracurricular organizations throughout middle and early high school. When I started high school, I had a wide range of classes to choose from, but the business electives piqued my interest the most. I took an array of classes, and one of them was Career and Financial Management, where I learned how to make wise financial decisions. The time we spent playing the Stock Market Game, an online simulation of the world's financial markets, was my favorite lesson from this course. As the pandemic struck and I was left with nothing to do but pass the time, my fascination in financial literacy grew. I finally decided that finance was the ideal major for me in the winter of my sophomore year.
Any organization or corporation needs finance since it focuses on managing resources like money and assets. A solid foundation in subjects like financial analysis, investment management, risk management, and financial planning can be obtained by studying finance. This expertise can be used in many different businesses and can open up a wide range of career opportunities in industries including corporate finance, banking, investing, and financial consulting, among others. Furthermore, because it is a profession which is constantly evolving, finance can be both an intriguing and demanding field to study. One can develop analytical and critical thinking abilities, which are crucial in many facets of life, by choosing to major in finance. A complex and difficult academic experience is offered by the multidisciplinary nature of finance, which includes elements of economics, accounting, statistics, and mathematics.
As I begin college in the fall, I intend on focusing on that fascination and broaden my knowledge in preparation for my future career. In light of that, I will seize the chances that are offered to me to succeed. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan on pursuing my Master of Business Administration degree as well as further certifications. After graduating, I anticipate working as a Financial Advisor for some years. This will put me in an excellent position to prepare me for my dream career.
My ultimate professional goal is to start my own nonprofit organization that will educate and support members in impoverished communities in developing better financial habits. Also, I would provide my skills to the youth and young adults in those communities so they can make responsible financial decisions while they are still in their formative years. Growing up in an underserved community, I have witnessed people go through many financial hardships just to simply make end’s meet. I want to present them with options of how to escape this situation or possibly prevent it so they can live better lives without worrying about how they will support their families. This is my way of paying it forward to the community that raised me.
