“Think outside the box”, we heard this line thousands of times in school, at a workplace, and your own home. When I first heard this I recall wondering what exactly did it mean. However, throughout the years of hearing the phrase I realized what it meant for me.
When I hear the phrase an image of a box appears in my mind with words filled inside, however, I’m not looking for those. I’m searching outside the box for something more. I start to scribble words and paint images outside the box, using my creativity to figure out what to do. For example, the topic can be art. Inside the box I see drawings, paintings, and the definition of art. Outside the box I begin writing my own ideas: poems, emotions, brushes, escape, etc. I paint an image of those words to develop a big image of the word, an image created by my creativity.
Thinking outside the box is different to everyone and to me it’s using my creativity. Every individual has their own uniqueness and creativity and I have my own, which is different from anyone else. Thinking outside the box is putting my mind, my creativity, and uniqueness to the test to develop an image outside the box rather than to go with the image inside the box.
