Dream Job by Amy - February 2019 Scholarship Essay

I live in a small town, next to a big urban city. Every night, when we're riding around, we joke and say that we live in a ghost town since you won't see many people after eight o' clock. In the city, there are huge factories, and ton of refineries. The plan has always been to get a job in the city to stay close to home. However, I've always wanted to travel and spend some time away from home for a bit, see how I do on my own.
I've always known what I wanted to do. Since I took an intro to engineering course in middle school, I've always had the interest in pursuing a STEM based career. The real question was always where did I want to go. Studying abroad was the first thing that came in mind. Although as I began to receive more and more letters of interest from big universities, the thought of going out of state became an option. Last year I went to Colorado and stayed at a university for about a week. I fell in love with the area and began my research as of there.
My plan is to go out of state, one school of interest is Colorado School of Mines. I obviously wouldn't stay in Colorado forever because I'd get homesick and miss my family. I would stay as long as necessary to finish my degree in an A1 engineering school, then come back home to find a job in the city.
