Good Money, Good World by AMARE - November 2021 Scholarship Essay
Schools around America offer a multitude of classes and subjects, for all types of people to enjoy. Core classes like math and science are especially important but in my opinion, classes like money matters, and economics should be more focused on in school. This is simply because managing money is one of the most important values in life, and if a person can master saving and spending money, they are almost guaranteed to be financially stable.
In fact, money disagreements and financial incompatibility is consistently one of the most common reasons for divorce in America. So my question is, If money is the root of so many problems in the world, then why isn't proper handling of it emphasized more in schools? Unlike the majority of subjects in school, managing money is something that everyone will have to become good at in their lives no matter what career path they may choose, or family dynamics they settle into. Money and the effective management of it will impact almost every aspect of life. Where you live, your children's education and extra curricular activities, your family's social status, ability to retire comfortably and many other things in life. This means that if everyone is taught how to effectively manage money, it will directly translate into a better, more responsible, and harmonious society.
