Advice to Younger Students by Amanda - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Advice I would give to younger students would be to do assignments ahead of time, when I was an undergraduate student I would put off assignments until last minute and would sometimes be up late the night before something was due trying to get it completed. Having to stay up late stressing about finishing assignments and studying for tests would sometimes result in not getting the grades I knew I was capable of. I could not get organized enough to be able to get things done before they were due. Now that I am in graduate school I have become more organized and keep up with my assignments, I even have finished assignments earlier than they are do which makes me feel a lot less stressed about school. Knowing that I have already turned in an assignment that is not due for a few weeks makes me feel accomplished and I do not have to keep worrying about it. Also, since I have plenty of time before the assignment is due I have time to proofread it and make sure it is the best version I can turn in, which has led me to get much better grades.
If I could start my undergraduate studies over I would make sure that I had all the materials I needed for class on time, I would make sure I went through each syllabus and put down which assignments are do when. Even if there was a week or two that no assignments were due I would try to get ahead on the things that are due in the upcoming week. Staying ahead on your assignments can help you feel more successful in school, and also make you feel less stressed out and have more time in life.
