I plan on majoring in cellular and molecular biology while in college. I chose to major in biology because I have always had a love for life science, and I chose to major in cellular and molecular specifically because I learned through my AP biology class that I am very drawn to the smaller level of biology itself.
I have always been interested in science. As a kid, I would always work through science experiment kits and science experiments that my mother would find during the summertime. I have also been an avid baker, which is a science within itself. Once I got to high school biology and AP Biology, I started to discover what I enjoyed. When we got to the units about components of cells and how cells would send messages to other cells or how DNA is replicated in a process that involves different enzymes that all have a job, I realized how much I enjoy science on the cellular level. When we worked through these units, I found myself wanting to learn more about these specific chapters or units, so what better way to do so than majoring in cellular and molecular biology, where I can learn about DNA replication, enzymes, and protein denaturing to my heart's content. I enjoy cellular biology because I like the components of a cell and its inner workings, and I like molecular biology because it is the complete base of everything in the world, so being able to work with that and understand that subject is extremely intriguing to me.
