Best Class I Have Ever Taken by Alyssa - September 2017 Scholarship Essay

In my high school career I have taken about 7 electives. Some of the classes were mandatory to graduate and others were ones that I've taken for fun. The best elective I have taken was sociology 1 and 2. These were both semester classes taken over the coarse of my junior year.
The class has not only made an impact on my education but my life as a whole. My sociology class was toward the end of the day and having it at that time made me happy to come to school and helped get through my classes to go to that class. In sociology we talked about all the "taboo" subjects such as sex, race, ethnicity,gender roles,and many more topics. Some topics, went on to help me with other classes; for example, the mental health unit helped me with my psychology. One unit we had gave us a project were we had a made up life with a certain income and living situation and we had to budget everything for our life (food, health care, toiletries,buying a house/rent, car payments, ect.); this project helped me realize everything I will need to do when I become an adult and live on my own. Religion was the best unit we had because we had a priest, rabbi, and imam come into school and they explained their religions views and we got to ask questions. This helped me understand religions outside of my own and will be an experience that has changed my life forever.
