My New Year's Resolution by Allison - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
There is no elevator to success; you have to take the stairs. Many students carry a backpack full of papers, snacks, and gym uniforms. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to stay organized to help me become a better student. To become a better student by being organized, I color coordinated my spirals and folders for each of my classes, hung up a calendar in my room to remind myself of all my extracurricular activities, my National Honor Society service hours, and musical rehearsals, and kept an agenda with me at all times that has my homework assignments and small reminders to myself to help keep me going through the day. I work for success, I never dreamed about it.
Motivating myself got me started with my New Year’s resolution and making it a habit keeps me going. My New Year’s resolution will not only make me a better student, but it will inch me closer to a better tomorrow. Nothing worth having comes easy, like my education. My New Year’s resolution is based off of education, because education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. Staying organized will keep me determined to learn. Improvement begins with I and my New Year’s resolution will help further me to become a better student.
