Cultivate the Skills Necessary to Thrive by Allison - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
Leadership skills are vital for college success. Those five group projects can't get done unless one person steps up to the plate and reminds everyone of the due date, where to meet to work on the project, and what is required for the project. Leadership skills do not end in an academic setting. Many college students participate in work study programs to earn money toward their bill, the students with the best leadership skills thriving in better paying position due to countless promotions. Students with fine tuned leadership skills generally have the qualities of poise and humility, knowing when to voice their opinions and when to listen to others. Cultivating those skills at a young age will enable the student to succeed in their intended career. CEOs and managers did not attain their positions because they were a follower. No, they used their social intuition to climb their way to the top, likely bringing their team with them.
Aside from academic and workplace accomplishments, leadership skills open a wide network of friendships. When an individual embraces a strong, independent personality built on optimism and a friendly attitude, others are generally drawn to him. Those that utilize such skills tend to be the well-known people on campus, and in turn, their future business network.
