What is Success? by Allison - February 2021 Scholarship Essay

Success in college means being apart of the community and growing as a person. It also means getting the education I need to succeed in my future career. I believe that success in college includes having a supportive environment that encourages you to ask questions and fosters an environment of growth. Being able to reach out to professors for help and get tutoring is essential to get through tough college classes.
Being involved in campus clubs and events is a great way to get involved in the community and meet new people. I want to be apart of the student government and work on community outreach projects. Improving the lives of my fellow students and community members is success in my eyes. It allows me to learn new skills and get experience for my future career.
Success to me is being able to not only reach your goals but being able to go farther than you imagined. I plan to attend college and major in History. After I graduate with my Bachelor’s degree, I plan to attend law school. I’d like to work in immigration law or civil rights law, as I want to help those who have been discriminated against and get them the justice they deserve. If this isn’t exactly where I land as a career, I’ll be excited to see where I do go in the future.
Fighting for an equal and fair society and standing up for your fellow people is success to me. Being passionate about your beliefs and morals is so important in the current world. Success is what you want it to be, a small milestone or a big one, they are both successes. I believe that there are many ways to successful, but being true to yourself and your beliefs is the best way to succeed in the future.
