How to Help the Earth by Allison - July 2017 Scholarship Essay

You hear it all the time. "I want to change the world. I want to save it before it's too late, but how?"

How can either of us change the world or save it when we're just one person?
How can either of us stop pollution, global warming, poverty, and world hunger?
How can either of us end violence and create world peace?

It might seem completely hopeless when you look at the big picture, but you have to take it one step at a time. We don't have to change or save the world all in one go. Frankly, that's impossible. The only way to change the world, to save it, is to help those around us.

We help those around us by treating them kindly and standing up for them. We help the Earth by recycling, not littering, and walking or riding a bike instead of driving in our cars.

Both of us can change the world and its people. We can save it. And the way to do that is to help the people and the planet in everyday situations by little acts of kindness. Because those acts will create a chain reaction. Slowly, you'll see your loved ones aspire to be like you because they too want to change the world and its people, to save it before it's too late.

And then their loved ones will look at them and aspire to be like them.

This is how we, together, can change and save the world and it's people.
