The Coolest President Ever by Allen - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

To begin my explanation of which President I would want to have dinner with for one night, I want to get one thing out of the way first: I would not want to have dinner with any President who was President before the 1940's. While I do admire the Presidents of our past, here are my two reasons why I wouldn't dine with them. First, regardless if we could find one miraculous way to resurrect them or travel back in time to meet them, the biggest thing that people ovver look is that they have been dead for many of years. If they have been resurrected, their corpse would surely reek of foul orders. If they were met through time travel (or other inter-dimensional means), the only thing I would be compelled to speak to them about are their future (or current) exploits while in office that could change their outlooks or effect their terms in office. The Second reason I wouldn't want to meet one of the President's of the past is because our past Presidents have been dead for many of years. In that time between their terms (and/or death) and modern day, America has advanced both socially, economically, and technologically. The people who exist in Modern Day America have a different way of thinking than the people of our past, and this includes our Presidents. I feel that if I were to meet any one of our past Presidents, most of the time spent sitting with them would be discussing what has changed between now and then and informing them of how we have changed socially (i.e. the advancements of technology, the introduction of social media, the Civil Rights Movement, etc.).

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I can now say that the only President that I wish to spend a dinner with is Barack Obama. Having dinner with him has nothing to do with his political position, his stance on climate change, or any of his achievements. I wish to have dinner with him because of how charismatic he is. Barack is the most charismatic President we've had since Raegan, and having a charismatic President can make for an interesting dinner. Imagine sitting in the Great Room while you sit with Obama and his wife as he tells you a story of how he played basketball against Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest basketball players of this generation, in the oval office or something of that nature. That would be a story to behold! I don't believe any President could offer any other story that could possibly match his charisma when it comes to story telling.
