Where I See Myself in 10 Years by Alexis - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

Due to the pesky fact that I unfortunately cannot see the future, any and all expectations or hopes are just that, hopes. As the military says, ‘Hope is not a legitimate course of action’, but I would say that it sure is a wonderful motivator for excellence, or at least a motivator for having a plan in general. In 10 years, I hope to see myself holding a stable job in either the accounting field or the field of finance, both of which I am majoring in currently. I hope to see myself continuing my close relationships with my family, my friends and I hope to see myself with a future spouse, or spouse-to-be. I hope to be happy at my job, but to also have a desire to further my knowledge and advance my career in whichever field I decide upon. In addition to that, I also hope to see myself researching, planning or executing the initiation of my own business either on the side or as a full-time job, utilizing the knowledge that I will have learned in college and also that I will have learned during my career. The obvious ways in which my education will have helped me achieve these goals are that it will have given me the foundational knowledge needed to be eligible for a job in either field and the degree that will vouch for that foundational knowledge. Besides that, my education will have also helped me to reach these goals by nurturing my learning skills, the likes of which I will carry with me through the rest of my professional and personal life, it will have assisted me in making professional connections through opportunities in my degree plan, and finally, it will have enhanced my problem solving and time managing skills through the myriad of stressful situations encountered in daily college life, whether personally, educationally, or professionally.
