Educational Benefits in My LIfe by Alexis - March 2025 Scholarship Essay
Ten years ago, I was about six years old. I didn’t have a lot going for me, from what I remember, but that is only a slight bit–mostly running outside and chasing guys around the playground. Fast forward to now; what I have going for me is a whole lot of stress. Homework, family, friends, almost everything I look at gives me stress. Ten years from now I will be twenty-six years old. I hope to see myself out of school, but I’m highly skeptical of that. Ten years from now I will still be in school, studying for my psychiatry license or my PhD in psychiatry. I will hopefully be married, but with no kids since I am still in school. I will be at my dream school where my parents both went, Utah State University and at a good place in my life, with friends and Saturday night games. I will be a hard worker, but also have time to have fun and enjoy my college experience.
My education will have benefits to get to where I am in ten years, all because of the time and work I’ve put into it to get more learning. I am trying for my Certificate of Completion, or all of my generals done in high school. I have taken three AP classes, and about a dozen CE classes, all for the purpose of furthering my education so I can achieve my goal of being a psychiatrist. I’ve read countless self-help books as a way to learn more about what I am going to study and I’ve had at least a 3.95 GPA for my entire high school life. As I have shown, education is very important for me, because it is absolutely needed if I am going to become a Doctor in mental health. My education is stacked on each other, when I learn something in the beginning, it is for the purpose of learning more and more, like learning addition then multiplication. My education will have taught me about the workings of the inner mind and behavior, about trauma and how it affects every aspect of the body, and specific kinds of medication for what mental struggle. It can help me learn how to act around certain people, those who have gone through rape or abuse, and my education is the reason why I will be able to help them. The benefits from learning will allow me to benefit other people’s lives. Education has always helped me in certain situations, like when I need to figure out how to problem solve a situation, education has taught me how to do that. Education has helped me learn how to adapt to new situations that I am not used to, learn how to interact with different people, and make critical decisions in the heat of the moment. These skills that I have learned in my school now will benefit my life with all the personal, adaptable, and decision making valves I have learned. These things will continue to help me as I become a psychiatrist and get further education, that is based on the education I have now.
