College Success by Alexis - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
Success in college can only be determined by the individual who is completing college. To be successful in college leadership skills are not necessary. Only the individual defines their own success. Some people may believe that college success is being involved in as many activities as possible. To others it may be getting their degree and starting their own life.
If someone sees college success as being involved, then they would say leadership skills are necessary. Being involved requires some leadership skills, which could include scheduling meetings or even helping with minor tasks. Leadership skills are needed in some activities that occur during college. Not all things that occur during college require leadership skills.
College success does not require leadership skills because success is undefined. Only the individual can choose what they feel is successful. There are some students who feel that graduating and moving on with life is successful. Others feel that to be successful in college it takes surviving the stress and making a name for themselves.
So to say that to be successful in college one must have leadership skills is absurd. College success cannot have the same meaning for every person who experiences it. That is why leadership skills are not required to be successful in college.
