Interesting Lesson Learned in School by Alexis - August 2013 Scholarship Essay

General science was one of my favourite subjects because you learn so much about the world and why things work. By learning science, it made me wonder what happens if we did X instead of Y. I also got a sense of satisfaction when I can ‘predict’ what will happen in a reaction or procedure then see it actually happening. My sophmore year in High School I was the only Sophmore in my Chemistry class, the rest were Seniors and I immediatley fell in love with Science. I've always been facinated in how products and reactants work. My favourite part of Chemistry was learning to "Balance Chemical Equations. You had a products and reactant side. The reactants side was the left side of elements mixing together and the other side was the product the right side. More so the outcome. The point of the lesson was to have the exact same number of a specific element of one side had to be on the other side. The lessons was very excited not only because you actually had to use your brain to figure it out it was very challenging. You actually felt like you were learning something instead of learning a lesson memorizing it for the test and then afterwards having no idea what you just took a test on.I realized we use Science in our everyday lives even if we don't know it and you learn so much. Im facinated in how things work and why it works a certain way. Chemistry is the reason I would like to become a pharmacist. I want to know why things affect the body the way they do. When you become inquisitive to things around you, you become more aware and you will improve in whatever it is you want to major in as you age.All my science classes i took in high school I passed with an "A" or a "B". Learning something that interest you is so much easier than having to struggle with something you arent interested in. I'm horrible at math, basic math I'm good at but when you start giving me Algebra math. i'm out the door! It's like having to know your alphabets yet you know to know all these random numbers too! But it's somthing you have to learn.Without science all these fancy gadgets we have more than likely wouldnt be here.I started to realise  that science was integral to nearly everything we do – even art and history
