Success looks different to everyone. In college success to some people may be getting the highest GPA they can, having the most friends, or for some just passing their classes. Overall it may mean having a high paying job, a high rise apartment in New York, or just making it through the week. Success is not something that can be put into a box and it doesn’t look the same for everyone. To me success means being proud of my work and overall being happy with myself and what I surround myself with.
When it comes to college, success for me means having a high GPA and doing well in my classes. All throughout high school and middle school I have taken pride in my grades and GPA. I average a 3.9 GPA most of the time and I work very hard to maintain it. Keeping this in mind, for me, success is just that. A high GPA, staying on top of my school work, and always aiming for all A’s in the classes I take. Although my main focus is a high GPA, success in college also means finding a major I love and truly being happy with what I have chosen to focus on. I want to leave college with a degree in something I love doing so when I enter the workforce I can find a position I am full of passion about and enjoy going to work.
The actual definition of success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.”, but for me the definition of success is being happy. That’s the bottom line. I want to be happy. Happy with my career, my income, my family, my house, and my life. I want to wake up everyday and think about how lucky I am and be able to think about all of my accomplishments. If I am unhappy in a part of my life I would not say I am successful. In the end it isn’t the fancy cars or the high rise apartments that matter to me. What matters is being happy. Life is too short to waste working long hours somewhere you don’t enjoy or going home upset because you don’t like how things are turning out. Life should be about doing what makes you happy and feeling like the best you. In the end, being happy is being successful in my eyes.
