The Social Aspect of Education by Alexia - November 2015 Scholarship Essay
Oprah Winfrey attended Tennessee State University with a full scholarship in the early 1970's. Her focus was on communication and she graduated with a degree in speech and drama. Education is very essential in life, not only when it comes down to academics, but it's social aspects as well.
Narrowing down to my opinion of an important feature of education, never-the-less would I overlook the social facets that personalize one's life. The reason being that, co-operation, honesty, fair-play and, consideration for others as well as a sense of right and wrong are a couple factors of the social aspects of education.
Why would one be thankful for the social aspect of education? Well, after doing a bit of research on what exactly the social aspects of education are, it's not difficult to figure out. Christine D. Bremer, one of three authors of the article; Impact Newsletter: Preparing for Adult Life: Important Social Skills For High School Students, states that children need to be able to communicate with others, establish and maintain relationships, and participate in a variety of work, community, and home settings. Easily, one would find this convincing enough to agree with the statement of social aspects in education being efficient in a teens life.
On another hand, others would argue that because young people are set in such a huge setting, referring to public high schools, they are full of emotions and are caught up in an identity crisis. Which, actually in oppose to this statement, would allow them to explore new things other than what the stereotypical teenageer is expected of thinking or doing. However, it is expected for teens to make mistakes in their life. Yet, for the most part, a teen is learning through each and every experience they go through. A new moral is taught based on the choices that teen has made.
In addition, friendships that are made in high school can last a lifetime. As well as relationships for some. Creating early relationships is beneficial later on in life, when networking becomes a necessity.
All in all, the social aspects of education are to be thanked for when considering future references and opportunities such as; business constructing, networking, relationships, contracts between one another, partnerships, etc.
