Patience And Courage by Alexandrea - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
If I were to be on the committee that awards Nobel prizes, the two qualities my recipient would need to have would be patience and courage. I believe that these two qualities are very important to have when facing the world ahead of you, facing obstacles blocking your path, or any hardship you may face in life.
Patience is a virtue. Sometimes it's difficult to have the patience to deal with everything being thrown at you when your climbing your way up the ladder to get through life. When it comes to struggling with people, struggling with your job, your school work, and even driving on the road, your patience can reach its breaking point, and sometimes, you may just want to lash out. Some situation that drive people's patience up the wall can be fixed, but sometimes we can’t always fix the problems we may be facing. We sometimes have to be patient and take somethings with a grain of salt with a smile spread wide across our faces. Just nod and continue on with our day normally. That can be a very hard thing to do and the people that can do that are outstanding in my opinion.
I believe courage is the most important quality any person could have. Everyone needs a good amount of courage to give them enough confidence to accomplish their dreams and goals in life, to help them push through the hardships of life. Getting through life can be scary sometimes, and when fear washes over us we shrink back, to scared to continue to push back at life when it pushes at them. Fear can easily over run a person’s mind, setting them in a mind set that they won't ever be able to run forward and make the that leap. Having courage can drive those fears back, drive you to face those fears head on. Being able to have the courage to face those fears head on and drive yourself forward takes a lot and really shows how outstanding that person is. It shows they have the confidence to take on any challenge that throws at them, sometimes they will be thrown back down to square one, but they will get right back up and try again.
Patience and courage I believe are the two best qualities a person could have. It shows how brave they can be and understanding they can be to multiple situations. They won’t let anything drag them down or cause them to give up. They have the patience to face their problems calmly, they may get frustrated at times, but have the patience to see it to the end. They have the courage to be able to face any problem, not completely free of their fears, but the courage to face those fears head.
