A Future Extracurricular Activity by Alexandra - September 2019 Scholarship Essay

If I could create an extracurricular activity for high schoolers it would have to be a fashion club. Being someone who loves fashion and wants to work in the industry one day, I wish there would have been a club of such when I was in high school. I strongly believe that students today should have the exposure to fields that interest them prior to applying to college.

By giving high schoolers the opportunity to join a fashion club, they may discover a passion that they never knew they had. This organization could also provide a community for students to have a creative outlet. High schoolers would gain experience researching topics and occupations in this industry, which would in turn, help propel them to the next level. A fashion club would provide a network of their peers with similar interests and would assist in students making friends while learning from each other.

Overall, a fashion club would proved high schoolers with an immense about of knowledge and access to a topic that does not already have a community at their school. It would encourage students to network and learn more about fashion all while expressing themselves through a topic they love.
