A Roosevelt Dinner Discussion by Alexander - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

Many people have been asked which president they would have dinner with. Common answers would be Abraham Lincoln, Washington, or Donald Trump. Although those are good choices, I don't think that any of them would've been my choice. If I could have dinner with any president, I would have to pick Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States of America, has done lots for the economy during the twelve years he has served in. He's taken the United States into World War II to help the Allies to victory, became a major role in the creation of the United Nations, did fireside chats with people over the radio, and came up with the New Deal. His importance in all of this is the reason why I would pick him as the president I'd have dinner with. Along with that, his chats give millions confidence and comfort while his New Deal helped the society get out of the Great Depression.
When it comes to FDR, there's not really anything I disliked about him. I did like, however, how he helped the economy come back during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Afterwards, he talked to the people like they were his equal. I believe we should talk to each other in that way as well, as equals. Unlike most presidents, especially recent ones, FDR was open about everything to the people, He didn't hide anything like Nixon, nor were we given false information like most of the news given today.
Like many people who've been given this question, I'd have questions of my own for Roosevelt. The first question I'd ask is “What was it like being president of the United States of America?” Another question I'd ask is “When you created the New deal, what did you expect from it? How'd you feel after a couple of years into creating it?” I'd also ask what his childhood was like and many other questions about his past to learn more about what made him who it was.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States of America, has done many things for the people of the country from taking as an equal to them to help them through the Great Depression and early years of World War II. If I was given the chance to have dinner with any president, I would pick him because of his accomplishments and how they had affected the people around him in a positive way, very similar to how I am. Just like many other people, I'd have questions I'd ask FDR, but yet I'd ask questions not about his time as president but as a child growing up. So if I was given a chance, I would take it, but for now, I'll just have to wait to ask my question until the future or past.
