The Heart by Alexa - June 2019 Scholarship Essay
You will be a failure. Look at your parents. Look at your skills. Look at your talents. Countless associates and even stranger said these horrific lines to my second semester professor. He was the first person in his family to go to college. He told my class of his lack of support, skills, and genetics. The only thing going for him was something every human being has: a heart. He believed with all his heart that he would go to college. This professor taught me that all I need to succeed is the heart.
I learned from this professor that the only obstacle standing in the way of any seemingly impossible goal is our own doubt. To reach our aspirations we have to believe with all our heart that our goal is attainable. We have to believe with all our heart that we have the ability to reach our goals. We have to believe with all our heart that that we can put in the needed effort to cross the finish line. We have to believe will all our heart that the going will be rough, that life will beat us to our knees, and that people won't believe in us. But the strength of our heart and the depth of our passion will carry us through the vicissitudes of life.
My professor in my second semester of college taught me, a young adult with with endless opportunities right in her grasp, that the only thing that determines my success is my heart.
I have big dreams. Ever since taking this professor's class I ask myself daily if my heart in the right place. I know that I will reach all of my goals if I have the heart.
