Why I Want Dinner with Obama by Alexa - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

I have always been in awe of President Barack Obama. Unlike other presidents, I was alive for his presidency. I feel like being alive during a president's term truly show the struggle and journey of the president because you are on the journey will them. I would so ecstatic to have dinner with former President Barack Obama, and here is why.
The first reason was that he was the first black president. I am a person of color, so seeing someone also a person of color in office is kind of an amazing step for minorities. He made it seem possible for anyone who is a minority to be president.
The second reason is the number of achievements this man made during his presidency. Those achievements make Obama one of the most significant presidents in American history. I could make such a long list, but here is a couple: he entirely transformed the American healthcare system, he drastically helped during the biggest financial crisis in decade, he hired two women in the Supreme Court that helped legalize same-sex marriage, helped with climate change, he created peaceful alliances/settlements such as Cuba. Those were just the mere few. You can think if they are good or bad changes, but he created quite some BIG changes. And to me, that makes much more interesting to have dinner with.
The third reason is that I would genuinely enjoy the dinner with him. I have seen him in media, and he is humble, funny, and kind. He has cracked some great dad jokes at various serious presidential events. I wouldn't have to learn new etiquette for the presidential dinner or have to teach one of the presidents something new. For example, I don't think Washington would know what a cronut or a hot dog is, and I don't anything about 1800 etiquette. I could just go to In&Out with Obama and have a great time. All in all, Obama would be a significant and fun president to have dinner with.
